What a louvred pergola costs
A straight answer on louvred pergola prices, what the starting figure covers and what gets added once we have seen your garden.
A louvred aluminium pergola starts from £4,500 supplied and fitted. That starting price is for a 3m × 4m frame fixed to a suitable existing base, such as a level, well-laid patio. Larger frames, motorised louvres, side screens, glass walls and any new base or concrete pads are added on top, and we price those after the site visit. Every figure here is a guide; your fixed price comes in writing after we have measured up.

What is included in the price
The starting figure covers the powder-coated aluminium frame, the adjustable louvred roof, the gutters built into the frame with water carried away down the posts, and the warm-white LED lighting that comes with it. It also covers fixing the frame down to a base that is already sound and level, and leaving the area tidy.
Before we fix anything we check the base. If the patio is solid we bolt straight to it; if it is not, we allow for concrete pads or a new patio, and that goes on the quote as a separate line so you can see it.
What makes it cost more or less
- Frame size: the bigger the footprint, the more aluminium, louvres and fixings go into it.
- Manual or motorised louvres, and whether you want them on a remote or an app.
- Closing the sides with privacy louvres, glass walls, sliding doors or blinds.
- The state of what it stands on: a sound patio keeps the cost down, a soft or uneven one means pads or a new base.
- Access to the back garden, as every frame section has to be carried through.
- Where the rainwater from the posts goes, and whether it needs a new drain or soakaway to take it.
Pergola costs in Rutland, Stamford and the nearby towns
Ground makes the biggest local difference. Around Oakham and in Market Harborough the clay drains slowly, so the water coming down the posts needs a planned route rather than a puddle at the foot of each one, which can add drainage to the job. Stamford and Ketton sit on limestone that usually takes water well. In Corby and Kettering, garden ground can switch from ironstone to clay or fill within a few metres, so we check before fixing. Listed homes, common in Stamford's centre, need planning permission for a pergola, and conservation areas rule out the side-of-house position.
What to check in any quote
- Whether the base has been looked at, and who is responsible if the patio is not strong enough to fix to.
- Exactly what size is being priced, and whether the louvres are manual or motorised.
- Whether lighting and the rainwater route are included or extras.
- That the frame height has been checked against permitted development limits if it is near a boundary.
- Which side options are in the price and which are not.
