A dropped kerb needs approval from the highway authority before any work touches the footway, and the fees depend on your council: £194 for Rutland's permit, £300 or £470 in Stamford (Lincolnshire County Council), £300 to apply plus £240 if a contractor builds it in Market Harborough (Leicestershire), and £333 in Corby, Kettering and Weldon (North Northamptonshire). We hold the NRSWA street works qualification and can build the crossing in every area we cover.

Questions

Things people ask us

Do I need planning permission for a dropped kerb?
Only on a classified (A, B or C) road, for a listed building, or where an Article 4 direction applies, such as road-facing frontages in the Stamford conservation area. Otherwise the highway authority's consent is what you need.
Can you build the dropped kerb?
Yes, in every area we cover. We hold the NRSWA street works qualification, apply under the right permit or licence for your council, and build the driveway behind it so the levels line up.
