Block paved driveway and dropped kerb, Ryhall
An old slabbed frontage rebuilt as a block paved drive for three cars, with a side channel drain and a wider dropped crossing onto the road.
A block paved driveway with room for three cars, a steel-grated channel drain along the side boundary and an extended dropped kerb, completed in Ryhall in October 2026. Before and after

The brief
This house in Ryhall was being extended and remodelled, and its planning approval came with conditions for the frontage: three off-road parking spaces, a sealed surface rather than loose gravel, surface water dealt with on the property, and the existing dropped crossing extended under a Section 184 licence from Rutland County Council.
What we built
The old slabs and hardstanding came out first, as the before photo shows, and the drive was rebuilt across the whole frontage, around 90m² of new paving. The field is a brindle block framed by a charcoal double border, with a concrete edging kerb holding the edges where the paving meets the footway and the neighbouring drives.
A steel-grated channel drain runs the length of the side boundary, so water falling across the drive is collected on the property instead of running onto the next drive or the road. It is the kind of detail that is easy to leave out on a big frontage and hard to add later.
At the road, the crossing was extended to suit the wider drive and the footway reinstated in fresh tarmac, all under the council's licence. Dropped kerbs are part of most of our driveway jobs, and we hold the street works qualification needed to build them.

“Lewis, Connor and the team at Rutland Driveways laid a new block paved driveway and parking area, and dropped Kerb at our house in Ryhall, from the offset, everything was professional, clearly explained and very detailed , right from Lewis quoting, the quote was very detailed and explained everything that was included, it was clearly laid out and easy to understand. Lewis was very quick to respond to any questions and different ideas i had and helped me through deciding on what to choose and different options and designs, they took the hassle out of everything, theres not many companies that impress me but turned up when they said they would, kept me informed at every stage and left everything clean and tidy. The finish is excellent and we're really pleased with it. if i could give 6 stars i would! highly recommend.”
