Resin driveways, installed to manufacturer specification
A resin bound driveway done well is smooth, permeable and effectively weed-free, and it suits stone properties better than almost any other surface. Done badly, it fades, cracks and lifts. The difference is the product and the base, which is why we install as a Vuba approved contractor across Rutland, Stamford, Oakham and Uppingham.

What you are actually buying
Resin bound surfacing is natural aggregate mixed with clear resin and hand-trowelled onto a prepared base, usually at 18mm over a 6mm stone. The finish is seamless and porous: rain drains through the surface rather than off it.
Three things separate a 20-year drive from a 5-year one:
- UV-stable resin. Cheap aliphatic-free resins yellow and go brittle. We use Vuba's UV-stable systems so the colour you choose is the colour you keep.
- The base. We excavate and build an open-grade permeable base to suit your ground, not just overlay whatever is there. Overlays are only quoted where the existing slab genuinely warrants it.
- The detail. Granite setts, block or steel edging, recessed manhole covers, drainage channels where they are needed. The edges are where bad jobs announce themselves.
Permeable means planning-friendly
Since 2008, paving more than five square metres of a front garden with an impermeable surface needs planning permission unless the water drains within the property. Resin bound surfacing on a permeable base is SuDS-compliant, so in almost every case no application is needed — useful everywhere, and especially in conservation settings like central Stamford.

Common questions about resin driveways
How long does a resin driveway take to install?
Most domestic driveways take three to five days: excavation and base first, then the resin is laid in a single continuous pour and is ready to walk on within a day and drive on within three.
Will the colour fade?
Not meaningfully, if UV-stable resin is used. That is the main reason we install Vuba systems rather than unbranded resin. Ask any installer to name the product going on your drive; if they hesitate, be careful.
Is resin suitable next to a stone cottage or in a conservation area?
Usually it is one of the best choices. Buff and golden blends sit naturally against Clipsham and Ketton stone, and because the surface is permeable it normally avoids the planning issues that impermeable paving can raise.
Can you overlay my existing concrete?
Sometimes. If the slab is sound, drains adequately and has movement joints we can work with, an overlay can be sensible. If it is cracked or pooling, overlaying just transfers the faults upward, and we will tell you so.
