Fencing in Whissendine: what is involved
We put up closeboard timber fencing on concrete posts with gravel boards, and premium composite and aluminium slatted fencing on aluminium posts, with matching gates and screens.
Whissendine, on the north western edge of Rutland near the Leicestershire border, is known for its working windmill, and has a long main street of stone and brick houses, farm conversions and newer homes. Bigger gardens and longer drives are common.
We cover Whissendine (LE15) and the villages around it, including Langham, Teigh, Ashwell, Pickwell and Stapleford.
Ground and conservation in Whissendine
Whissendine is on the clay of the Vale, and the Whissendine Brook runs through the village. Ground drains slowly, so we design the base and the water route before anything else. On the clay around Whissendine, which shrinks in dry summers and swells in wet winters, posts and pads go deeper and sit in concrete below the movement, so they stay plumb.
Whissendine is not one of Rutland's conservation areas and has no Article 4 direction, so normal permitted development rules apply outside listed buildings.
