A built-in outdoor kitchen with cabinets, a worktop and room left for appliances starts from about £6,000. Once you add a grill, pizza oven, sink and fridge, a fully equipped kitchen is typically £8,000–£20,000, depending on its length, the finishes and the appliances you pick. Bringing gas, power and water out to it is priced on top, and we confirm a fixed figure in writing after the site visit.

What is included in the price

The guide price covers the structure itself: a concrete base dug and laid under the kitchen rather than counters resting on existing patio slabs, block or stone-faced counters, weatherproof worktops, and openings sized for the appliances you have chosen. In the fully equipped range, the grill, pizza oven, sink and fridge are built in as part of the job.

Services are separate lines on the quote. A fixed gas supply has to be connected by a Gas Safe registered engineer, and a new outdoor circuit is notifiable electrical work that must be certified, so both are priced once we know the route from the house to the kitchen.

What an outdoor kitchen costs

What makes it cost more or less

  • The length of the run and the number of counters and corners
  • The facing finish: render, brick or natural stone
  • The worktop material and how many joins and cut-outs it needs
  • Which appliances go in, and whether you are supplying any yourself
  • How far gas, power and water have to travel from the house, and what the trench crosses
  • Whether a roof or pergola goes over it, which must stay within outbuilding height and size limits
  • Access to the back garden for base materials and long worktops

Outdoor kitchen costs around Rutland and Stamford

Ground decides what goes under an outdoor kitchen. In Oakham and Market Harborough the clay drains slowly and holds water through the winter, so the base is dug with that in mind and the area around it is given a route for water. Stamford's limestone usually drains freely, though old cellars and rubble fill do turn up, and around Corby restored opencast land can change from ironstone to fill within one garden. A kitchen in the back garden does not normally need planning, but a roof over it must meet outbuilding limits, and in conservation areas such as Stamford, Uppingham and central Oakham we check before pricing it.

What to check in any quote

  • A concrete base under the kitchen, not counters sitting on patio slabs
  • Exactly which appliances are included, and which are left for you to supply
  • Whether gas, power and water connections are in the price or listed separately
  • Gas Safe and electrical certificates on completion
  • The worktop material and how joins are sealed against the weather
  • How long the quoted price stands and what would change it

Questions

Things people ask us

What is the cheapest way to get an outdoor kitchen?
Start with the built-in counters, cabinets and worktop, from about £6,000, and leave openings for appliances you can add later. A grill running on bottled gas or charcoal avoids the need for a fixed gas supply, which keeps the first stage simpler.
Is an outdoor kitchen worth the money?
If you cook outside often, it turns the patio into a room you use from spring to autumn, and a pergola over it stretches that further. If you barbecue a few times a year, a shorter counter with space for a portable grill may make more sense than a fully equipped build.
What does an outdoor kitchen cost to look after?
Upkeep is mostly cleaning, covering appliances over winter and draining down any outdoor water supply before frosts. Worktops and faces are chosen to stand up to the weather, and a fixed gas supply should be checked by a Gas Safe engineer like any other gas appliance.
How do payments work?
Payment terms are written into the quote alongside the fixed price, so you know when each stage is due before you agree to anything. The figures on this page are guides to help you set a budget, not a bill.
How long is a quote valid for?
The written quote states how long its price holds. Appliance and material prices move, so if you come back after that date we recheck the costs before confirming the job and tell you plainly if anything has changed.
